Hey Dear Friend,

Let’s be entirely honest for a second. We’ve all seen those flawless online morning routines. You know the ones: waking up at 5:00 AM, doing an hour of intense cardio, downing a green juice, and meditating before the sun even thinks about coming up.

They look beautiful on camera. But on days when your energy is hitting rock bottom? Those routines just feel heavy. They feel impossible.

Lately, I’ve been leaning into a much gentler approach. I wanted to share a few realistic morning routine ideas that I turn to when I have absolutely zero fuel in the tank, but still want to start my day with a sense of peace.

1. The Low-Dopamine First Hour

When you are already low on energy, the absolute worst thing you can do is grab your phone the second your eyes open. Flooding your brain with emails, news, and notifications before your feet even touch the floor drains your mental battery instantly. Try leaving your phone in another room overnight. Give yourself just 30 minutes of quiet, offline space to wake up slowly.

2. Let the Light In

Before you do anything else, open your curtains. Getting natural sunlight into your eyes tells your body’s clock that it’s time to gently wake up. You don’t have to go for a run—just sit by the window with your hands wrapped around a warm mug of tea or coffee and watch the morning happen for a few minutes.

3. Choose Just One “Micro-Habit”

On low-energy days, you don’t need a 10-step checklist. Pick one tiny thing that makes you feel taken care of. For me, it’s stepping onto the balcony to check on my plants, or jotting down just three things I’m grateful for in my journal. It takes two minutes, but it shifts your mindset from “I’m so tired” to “I am present.”

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by heavy expectations lately, take a deep breath. Your morning routine doesn’t have to look perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes, the most productive daily routine is simply the one that treats you with a little kindness.

How do you handle your slow mornings? Let’s talk about it over coffee in the comments below.
